ARTIST STATEMENT
Me like make happy face when look in mirror. Paintbrush fall from sky into hand and go weird. Make pretty girl go wild for day when parents not home. Men like have fun to get happy in sunshine. One man go park and meet big pretty girl who carry man for lunch until man miss work. Team happy feel happy then feel sad when all alone and go Daytona Beach drink beer watch pretty girls feel happy and sad when do what friends say.
In all seriousness, these paintings are part of my “FREEDOM” series, which delve into American leisure – it’s irony, as well as it’s manic release from the stresses of day to day life. Through painstakingly thin layers of luminous acrylic glazes, I’ve tried to emulate America herself – loud, strong and sometimes out of control…absurdity is a cornerstone of the American experience.
